Academic Leadership and Service

My academic leadership and service activities span research management, teaching leadership, supervision, and sustained engagement with the scientific community and society. My experience combines senior academic and research roles in Europe and Latin America, with a strong focus on institutional development, interdisciplinary collaboration, and socially responsible technology.

Research Leadership and Academic Management

I currently serve as Research Area Manager for Data Management for AI at Know Center Research GmbH, where I define research strategy, coordinate interdisciplinary teams, and manage the acquisition and execution of competitive research projects at national and European level.
My responsibilities include budget oversight, supervision of researchers, and close collaboration with academic, industrial, and public-sector partners.
This role builds on extensive prior experience in Argentina, where I held senior academic and research positions involving the coordination of nationally funded research projects in cloud computing, wireless sensor networks, robotics, and precision agriculture. These activities combined scientific leadership with hands-on technical development and institutional capacity building.

Supervision, Mentoring, and Capacity Building

A central pillar of my academic service is the supervision and mentoring of students and early-career researchers. I have supervised Bachelor’s, Master’s, and engineering thesis projects across a wide range of applied and interdisciplinary topics. My supervision approach emphasises methodological soundness, ethical responsibility, and the ability to situate technical work within broader societal and environmental contexts.
In Argentina, these activities were closely linked to institutional development. I contributed to the creation of research groups, the establishment of laboratories, and the integration of students into nationally funded research projects. Many of these initiatives combined education, research, and outreach, strengthening local research ecosystems.

Outreach, Public Engagement, and Societal Impact

My academic service extends beyond formal university structures to include sustained engagement with society through outreach, technology transfer, and public communication of science. I have participated in numerous initiatives aimed at schools and underserved communities, particularly in rural areas, promoting STEAM education through hands-on activities in robotics and applied technologies.
Several of these initiatives have received public and media attention and are documented through videos and public demonstrations. These materials are presented on this website through embedded multimedia content, illustrating my long-term commitment to educational inclusion, socially responsible technology, and meaningful societal impact.

European Data Strategy

I am an active member of BDVA (Big Data Value Association). Through my participation in various task forces, such as those on agriculture and data space and in international symposiums (Data Spaces Symposium, Big Data Forum) I am able to keep up to date with the latest developments regarding the European Union’s data strategy. In addition, I can actively contribute to the definition of this strategy by participating in activities that define the data strategy’s roadmaps and blueprints.
